About Friends of the Arts
Deerfield High School “Friends of the Arts” is a non-profit (501c-3) parent organization.
Our goal is to support faculty and students in all of the fine arts programs at the school.
What we do…
Over the years, Friends of the Arts has funded a variety of programs and needs within the fine arts department of the high school.
For example:
Our goal is to support faculty and students in all of the fine arts programs at the school.
- To provide funds to support the DHS Fine Arts Programs in order to enhance students' education, opportunities and experiences in the fine arts
- To promote and encourage student activities in Band, Chorus, Dance, Orchestra, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
- To bring the home and school into a close relationship so that parents and teachers can work together to support the DHS Fine Arts Programs.
- To develop united efforts between DHS and the local community to provide increased opportunities for students in the DHS Fine Arts Programs.
- Funding is provided through annual membership dues, in-kind contributions and other donations from alumni, extended family and community members.
What we do…
Over the years, Friends of the Arts has funded a variety of programs and needs within the fine arts department of the high school.
For example:
- Purchased a new grand piano for the school
- Funded professional choreographers to work with our dance troupe and dance classes
- Funded artists-in-residence who spend time with our faculty and students
- Purchased new high-tech lights for the theatre department
- Provided scholarships for students needing assistance with lessons or program related costs
- Provided funding toward a commissioned piece for our orchestra
- Provided financial support for a juried visual arts show in conjunction with high schools across the Chicagoland area
- Provided travel assistance for students participating in school sponsored trips
